Activities dedicated to National Culture Day to take place all over Moldova

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Culture Day is marked in Moldova on 15 January, as homage paid to the great departed poet Mihai Eminescu, born on this date.     

On this occasion, the Culture Ministry invites people to a string of events, the goal of which is to promote the culture and the authentic values. The actions are organized by the institutions subordinated to the ministry, as well as in cooperation with the local public authorities from districts and some of them will be held during the next week-end already.

According to the Culture Ministry, the agenda comprises more actions: shows, recitals of poems, exhibitions, screenings of movies, etc. The events will start with laying of flowers at the busts to Eminescu – in the capital, on the Alley of Classics, as well as in more settlements of Moldova.   

The ceremony on the handing over of the Prizes in the Culture field for the 2023 year will be held at the Palace of the Republic on 15 January at 16:00. The contest is traditionally organized by the Culture Ministry and contains 15 nominations. The novelty of this edition is the new category, Cultural Diplomacy.   

Besides other events, the National Calendar 2024 will be launched at the National Library and an exhibition of books by Mihai Eminescu will be inaugurated at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children; at the same time, discussions on the culture’s role in the society will take place and a Quiz titled, Recognize the personalities of the national culture, will be held.
