Volunteer fire station in Sireți renovated

Chisinau, April 4 /MOLDPRES/ - The volunteer fire station in Sireti, Straseni district has been renovated. The works worth 266 thousand dollars were carried out with the support of the United States Agency for International Development, Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, Strășeni District Council and Sireți City Hall.

Attending the official inauguration ceremony were State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Jana Costachi, the leadership of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, US Ambassador Kent D. Logsdon, representatives of USAID Moldova, Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, as well as officials of local public authorities.

In her speech, Jana Costachi mentioned the importance of developing volunteer fire stations for the safety of rural communities and encouraged the volunteer initiative among firefighters. The official also stressed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs together with IGSU will provide the necessary support in training the volunteers so that they can respond as quickly as possible to the needs of the community.

IGSU head Alexandru Oprea congratulated all the residents of the community for the achievements, which will contribute to reducing disaster risks and increasing the safety of citizens. The official also noted that there are 20 volunteer fire stations nationwide.
