Grants worth 9 million lei for 20 entrepreneurs

Chisinau, 4 Apr /MOLDPRES/- Administrators of 20 companies from various sectors of the economy signed today funding contracts under the Digital Innovations and Technology Startups Support Programme. They will receive grants worth 8.7 million lei and will invest about 18.7 million lei in the country's economy.

Most winning companies are operating in the Information and Communications sector. "I am glad to know that more and more companies are modernizing their production processes and can benefit from improved operational efficiency, because this is the only way to achieve greater competitiveness in the market. Joint efforts will strengthen Moldova's position in the international innovation and technology landscape," Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitisation Dumitru Alaiba said.

Acting Head of USAID Mission in Moldova William Trigg said USAID has always supported government innovation initiatives to help Moldova address economic priorities and develop a business-friendly environment.

Molgan Mihai is one of the 20 winners of the Program. He received a grant worth 271 thousand lei, while the total investment amounts to 360 thousand lei. The young entrepreneur opted to launch a platform offering innovative green energy solutions to minimise energy and financial losses of photovoltaic parks.

The programme is carried out with financial support of the Western NIS Enterprise Fund and the Future Technologies Project, funded by USAID, Sweden and the UK.
