Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova supports the peace in Ukraine and is willing to contribute to the international effort to put an end to the war unleashed by Russia. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today made statements to this effect at the Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
„Moldova fully supports the Peace Formula proposed by President Zelenskyy – the only efficient plan for the reestablishment of peace. The way to a sustainable peace for Ukraine must be based on the international law. In this crucial moment, the support for Ukraine must be even stronger, as it is about not only the defence of its territory, but also the protection of Europe’s future and of our common values – freedom and democracy,’’ Mihai Popsoi said in his speech given at the Summit.
The Moldovan deputy PM noted that the ensuring of a sustainable peace in Ukraine was essential for Moldova, as well as for other states which aspire to join the European Union.
Mihai Popsoi thanked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his fight not only for the security of Ukraine, but also for the safety of Moldova.
The summit brought together heads of state and government, in order to discuss the continuous support for Ukraine, to reestablish the sustainable peace on the European continent and back the efforts of accession to the European Union for the candidate countries, including Moldova.
At the event, Deputy PM Mihai Popsoi gave a speech and had a meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman.
The Ukraine – South East Europe Summit is at its third edition. The first two meetings in this format took place in Greece and Albania.
The Peace Formula proposed by Kiev provides for the full withdrawal of the Russian troops from Ukraine and the return to the country’s internationally recognized borders, which include the Crimea peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014.
