Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has processed more than one million votes. Thus, about 36.7 per cent of the citizens voted for the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, and another 29.1 per cent – for the Candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo; about 14 per cent opted for the candidate of the Our Party political formation, Renato Usatii.
According to CEC’s data, 1,546,757 electors voted till 21:00, which accounts for 51.4 per cent of the voters registered on the electoral lists.
Under the legislation, in case of the presidential elections, the constituency electoral councils submit the official report on the tabulation of the elections’ results in the constituency during 48 hours after the closing of the polling stations. Subsequently, CEC will announce the final results of the polls.
If none of the candidates picks up at least a half of the ballots of the electors who participated in the voting, the runoff election is organized, with the participation of the first two candidates who got the largest number of votes in the first round of the elections.
