Chisinau, Nov 14 /MOLDPRES/- Romanian Government, through the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DDRM), is funding this year 99 projects that support the cultural and educational development of the Republic of Moldova. DRRM state secretary Adrian Dupu made the statement in an interview with a radio station.

Dupu also mentioned the significant increase in DRRM funding.

"I am glad that since I took over the department, we have managed to increase by almost 20 times and to be able to implement more projects, to reach more people. First of all, we have two ways: we fund new projects, we implement new direct projects, and then there is the funding session, where we receive projects and they are analyzed. As of this year, out of 350 projects that were submitted, we managed to fund 99", he added.

He also explained how initiatives for the Republic of Moldova are selected. "We think about the projects in collaboration with our partners here, we see what are the needs, what are the requirements, the desires, we look at what people want, the needs are much greater than the possibilities we have", said Dupu.

One of the projects supported by DDRM is Astra Film Festival, which has become a traditional event promoting a cultural dialog between the two banks of the Prut. The festival kicks off on November 14, at Loteanu Cinema, with a selection of award-winning films and a series of educational events, all with free entrance.

DDRM has also supported other important projects recently, such as the Romanian Traditions Festival held at the Botanical Garden, donations of 100 thousand books to libraries in Moldova, Transilvania International Film Festival in Chisinau and theater tours.
