Moldovan president has meeting with German Federal Chancellor

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has met Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, during her working visit to Berlin.  

According to the presidential press service, the two officials referred to the latest security developments in the region, the impact of the war from Ukraine and the energy crisis. The sides also analyzed the Moldovan-German relations and cooperation projects for the long run. The Moldovan head of state said that the Chisinau authorities had taken their firm commitment to advance on the reforms’ agenda, despite the challenges faced.

„I thanked the Federal Chancellor for the support of our European integration in the process of getting the status of country candidate for EU and we appreciated the initiative to launch, along with France and Romania, the Moldova Support Platform. I also expressed gratitude for the support from which Moldova has benefited on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the last three decades,’’ President Maia Sandu said.     

Due to the successful Moldovan-German cooperation, dozens of communities from Moldova have managed to modernize their infrastructure and the citizens have access to water and sewerage, as well as to quality services. ‘’We also discussed the major role of the German investments, which brought new industries to the country’s regions and gave thousands of people possibility to work at home,’’ the head of state added.
