Moldovan president meets more mayors, local authorities from south Moldova in Cahul

Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has met mayors and  councilors from the southern region of Moldova, during a working visit paid to the Cahul city. The head of state stressed that the European future of Moldova depended, first of all, on the involvement of each local authority and the latter’s work locally. The president noted that the fact that projects worth over 84 million lei had been carried out through the European Village Programme alone was encouraging.       

The Cahul city represents success model of local development, backed by the European Union, especially by Romania. More projects were carried out here for the improvement of the infrastructure, supply with water and sewerage or renovation of education institutions. President Maia Sandu appreciated the work carried out by the mayor of Cahul and signed a degree, thereby awarding him n honorific title.    

„I thanked mayor Nicolae Dandis for the fact during those two mandates in a row he had contributed to the comfort of the Cahul residents. As a token of gratitude, I handed him the Order of Honour of Moldova for the promotion of reforms and democracy locally,’’ the head of state said.
