Chisinau, March 26. /MOLDPRES/- Average pension will increase by 262 lei starting from 1 April. The amount of the increase consists of the value of indexation of pensions by 6% and the adjustment of the value of pensions to economic growth (Gross Domestic Product growth), the government's communication department has reported.

Thus, as a result of the indexation, the minimum pension will be 2,778 lei, and the average size of the pension for the age limit will increase by 249 lei and will increase after indexation from 2,067 to 3,926 lei.

Compared to 2021, at the beginning of this Government's mandate, the average old-age pension increased from 2,067 to 3,926 lei, which is 90%, and the minimum pension increased from 1,143 to 2,778 lei, an increase of 143 %. In both cases, cumulative growth greatly exceeded cumulative inflation for the same period.

Pension indexation will be carried out for about 679,963 beneficiaries, including 528,666 old-age pension beneficiaries and 98,823 disability pension beneficiaries.

The ratio between the minimum pension and the subsistence minimum calculated by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) for pensioners increased from 66%, in April 2021, to 115% in the first semester of 2023.

In relation to the average net salary, the minimum pension has increased from 16% to 25%: at the beginning of 2021, a pensioner with the minimum pension received only 16% of the equivalent of the average net salary, and now - 25%.

In December 2023 the government launched a program on one-off payment of 3,000 lei to 56,000 pensioners who were born before 1945 and have a pension of less than 3,000 lei.
