Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) warns Moldovans who travel to or transit Latvia with vehicles registered in Moldova that, starting from 1 January 2025, Latvia would introduce new rules of entry to its territory.
According to MAE, Moldovans who intend to transit or travel to Latvia are obliged to declare the vehicles registered in Moldova before crossing the border of Latvia, using to this end the electronic services of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), available on the platform E-CSDD pakalpojumi.
According to the quoted source, the declaration will be free of charge and will be able to be filled in online, without authentication. The data includes the brand and the country of the vehicle’s registration; the data of the owner and holder of the vehicle; the period of use of the vehicles in Latvia.
The vehicles belonging to people with diplomatic immunity or are used in official or technical missions of diplomatic missions or international organizations, including for transit, will be excepted from the new rules.
Pecuniary sanctions between 55 and 140 euros can be imposed, if the obligation of declaring is not observed.
