Raids at Leuseni customs post

Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Anti-corruption officers and prosecutors in the northern part of the country carried out raids today in a case of passive bribery involving eight customs employees.
According to the National Anti-Corruption Center /CNA/, the prosecution took place in a case of passive bribery. The eight are suspected of having allegedly demanded and received illicit remuneration from transporters when crossing the state border.
The payments were demanded for various services, such as facilitating the crossing of goods across the state border without declaring them and subjecting them to the payment of import duty, speeding up the process of checking means of transport.
This morning CNA officers raided the eight customs employees. Cell phones, customs documents and cash were seized from the scene. They are to be escorted to the CNA headquarters for hearings.
