Government crisis cell: electricity consumption fully covered for 8-9 January

Chisinau, Jan 9 /MOLDPRES/- Volume of electricity needed for 8-9 January is fully ensured for the right bank, without the need to activate emergency contracts, the government crisis cell reports. The data show that on 7-8 January, electricity consumption was reduced by about 20% compared to the previous days, the government's communication department has reported.

For 8 January, electricity consumption for the right bank was fully covered under commercial contracts from the following sources:

Electricity import (RO) - 46.42%

Termoelectrica - 33,16
Renewable energy - 15,03 %
CET-Nord - 4,83 %
NHE Costești - 0,56%.

At the same time, during the reporting period, there were no damaged disconnections of electricity grids, generating units and/or consumption sites. In order to ensure the stability of the power system and continuous electricity supply, residents are urged to consume electricity rationally, especially during peak hours.

On the left bank, the volume of energy produced by MGRES/ Cuciurgan power plant and Dubasari hydropower plant is not sufficient and there is an acute shortage. As of January 7, 2025, scheduled power outages lasting 8 hours are taking place in the Transnistrian region throughout the region. For today, January 9, disconnections are announced for today in the intervals 08:00 - 12:00 and 16:00 - 20:00 for a part of the residents and between 12:00 - 16:00 and 20:00 - 00:00 for another part.

The villages of Copanca and Varnița, controlled by the constitutional authorities, are also affected by the disconnections. According to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, these villages are to be connected to the electricity distribution networks of Premier Energy Distribution. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has also delivered electric generators to ensure the functioning of several social objectives in Varnița and Cocieri.

In the natural gas and thermal energy sectors, the production units on the right bank are operating normally, according to schedule, and there have been no breakdowns or incidents.
