Chisinau, 7 January /MOLDPRES/ - The consumption of electric energy in Moldova was fully covered for 6 January 2025, without the registration of deficit of electricity. According to information by the government’s Crisis Cell, the consumption will be fully supplied for 7 January, without the need to resort to failure contracts. According to forecasts, this consumption will be by 17 per cent poorer against 6 January, in the context of the days off and the rest of some companies, the government’s communication department has reported.
The sources used for providing the consumption for 6 January include: Termoelectrica stock company – 28.31 per cent, CET-Nord stock company – 3.87 per cent, State Enterprise Costesti Hydro-electric power station – 1.06 per cent, renewable energy – 10.92 per cent and the balance of import of electric energy (Moldova/Romania) – 55.83 per cent.
The commercial capacity available for import from Romania through the ENTSO-E network was enough to cover the demand forecast. An additional allocation of 400 MW for 7 January contributed to the consolidation of the energy security.
As for the left bank of Dniester, the covering of the consumption is to be made by MGRES (Kuchurgan power station), which works on alternative fuel - coal. Because of the high consumption, the planned fan disconnections from power supply continue in the region.
Starting from 7 January, the scheduled disconnections from power supply doubled and will take place twice per day, by four hours each. The reason for the revision of the schedule is the unbalance between the consumption and the production of energy resources. The new regime of electric energy’s supply is enforced, in order to adjust the consumption of energy to the level which can be provided by the generating objects and the reduction of the risk of damage in networks, because of the frequent use of electric equipment. Thus, some of the region’s residents will be disconnected from power supply during 08:00-12:00 and 16:00-20:00, while the others – during 16:00-20:00 and 20:00-00:00.
The aforementioned disconnections include also the settlements Copanca and Varnita. According to a decision by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) from 6 January, the Varnita village, Anenii Noi district, and the Copanca village, Causeni district, which are technologically coupled to the power networks from the left bank of Dniester at present, will be connected to the power distribution networks of the State Capital Enterprise Premier Energy Distribution stock company. This measure will ensure the continuity and reliability of the consumers’ supply with electric energy. Also, following the CSE’s decision, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) delivered seven electric generators for more social units of the Dubasari and Anenii Noi districts.
No damages or incidents were recorded both in the natural gas sector and the electric energy on 6 January. The pressures in the transport system’s segments, managed by the Vestmoldtransgaz Ltd Company, are within the limits of the functional parameters.
The authorities urge the citizens to rationally use the electric energy, especially in the peak hours. At the same time, the people hit by eventual disconnections from power supply are encouraged to contact local providers for the quick settlement of problems.
