Moldovan, U.S. officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, Jan. 13 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan President Maia Sandu met today with James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. State Department, to discuss the strategic partnership between the two countries and the support offered by the United States. The dialogue focused on US assistance to modernize the economy, energy security and strengthening democracy.

The United States remains a reliable ally of Moldova and a supporter of its European path. The American assistance provided as of February 2022 is close to one billion dollars, and the total contribution to Moldova's development exceeds 2.6 billion dollars.

Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of continuing this strong partnership, including in the context of the transition to a new US administration, reaffirming the commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation for a more secure and prosperous future.
