Cross-border projects for children refugees from Ukraine launched at Chisinau-based library

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Ion Creanga National Library for Children today launched the Cross Border Project, Ukraine – Moldova: multi-sectoral approach for children and teenagers hit by the war. The project is carried out in cooperation and with the support of the organization WeWorld Moldova.     

According to the director of the aforementioned library, Eugenia Bejan, within the project, the library received as donation equipment (six laptops endowed with earphones and other accessories, one color printer, 1 router) and software for consolidating the capacities, in order to provide diverse services and educational programmes to children and teenagers refugees, as well the ones from the local community.    

”Due to this support, the library will develop the supply of services, especially of those based on informational technologies, proposing to children and teenagers programmes on coding and robotics, media education, digital alphabetization, design and creation of quizzes, studying the Romanian language,’’ Bejan noted.    

Attending the event, the state secretary at the Culture Ministry, Andrei Chistol, said the concerned project was a continuation of the programmes carried out by the Ion Creanga National Library for Children. ‘’It is quite good that, due to the support provided by the WeWorld Moldova organization, we can integrate the children refugees from Ukraine in these activities as well. It is good for us to extend them and I think that, by this project, first of all, we will help the Ukrainian children to develop from the viewpoint of the creativeness, innovation and free time spent pleasantly, as well as from the point of view of personal developments and we should try to integrate them in the cultural life of Moldova through programmes carried out by the Ion Creanga National Library for Children,’’ Andrei Chistol stressed.    

Attending the event on the project’s launch was the country representative of the WeWorld Moldova organization, Giovanna Fotia, as well as children from the Mihail Koțiubinski Theoretical Lyceum from Chisinau.
