Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - The present situation in the energy sector has been directly influenced by the attacks on the infrastructure from Ukraine. The bombarding of the Podolsk power station by the Russian forces hit the work of the Kuchurgan power station. Presently, only two turbines are operational and the production capacity is limited. The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, has made statements to this effect; he made more specifications on an eventual energy crisis.
„We want to assure you that the authorities work intensely to efficiently manage this situation,’’ Daniel Voda said, noting that he had received numerous questions on behalf of journalists and citizens.
Why we do not have enough energy from Kuchurgan?
„The present situation was directly influenced by the attacks on the infrastructure from Ukraine. The bombarding of the Podolsk power station by the Russian forces affected the work of the Kuchurgan power station. Presently, only two turbines are operational and the production capacity is limited. This prompts us to quickly adapt and find solutions, in order to ensure the continuity of the providing of energy from the Romanian market,’’ Voda said.
The authorities urge the citizens to save the electric energy. ‘’Each gesture of saving matters hugely,’’ Voda specified.
How can we help?
Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that everybody’s solidarity and responsibility would make the difference. To reduce the pressure on the energy system, the citizens are urged to save the energy, especially in the peak hours: 7:00-11:00 in the morning; 18:00-23:00, in the evening.
Also today, the Energy Ministry said that to guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of electric energy to the right bank of Dniester, it is necessary to cover the consumption burden, which in winter reaches values of 850 MW during peak hours. Thus, on the right bank of Dniester, all domestic production sources will be mobilized – the heating power stations of Termoelectrica enterprise and the CET Nord, which will cover the consumption basis of 200 MW. At the CETs, we still have reserves to increase the production capacity. Another 100 MW was contracted by the Energocom Company from the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant of Romania at the capped price. Another 100 MW is to be contracted from the heating power station from Brazi of OMV Petrom. At the same time, the Hydro-electric power station from Costesti-Stanca can cover up to 10 MW band.
