Summer School of Architecture and Urban Environment to Take Place in Varna

Sofia, 5 sep. /MOLDPRES/. The Summer School of Architecture and Urban Environment will be held from September 9 to 12 in Varna, said the organizers from the Amorpha Youth Foundation on Thursday.
The focus of the summer school will be coastal architecture, cultural heritage and activities in an urban environment, with examples from Varna, Burgas, Barcelona and Hamburg to be shown and studied. Under the motto The City in Motion, the summer school will offer an intensive programme of lectures, field work, workshops and development of author's projects. In two special workshops, the trainees will have the opportunity to talk with the chief architect of Varna Viktor Buzev and with the vice-chairman of the Board of the Union of Bulgarian Architects Nikolay Raczynski.
Lectures will be held by Bulgarian and foreign experts, including Anna Ramos, Director of Fundació Mies van der Rohe, which is a co-organizer of the EU Award for Contemporary Architecture of the same name, Dr Kirsten Hackenbroch, Director of the Goethe Institute Bulgaria, and Monika Marinova, Director of the summer school and the only Bulgarian winner of the EUmies Young Talent Award. Prof Rositsa Nikiforova, co-founder of architectural specialties in two Bulgarian universities, will speak about the architecture of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
Young professionals and students between the ages of 17 and 29 can apply for the Summer School of Architecture and Urban Environment on the organizer's website. Participation in the programme is free of charge.
