Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) has invested over 1.3 million euros in the modernization of the Agricultural Technical College from Svetlii (Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia), within Moldova’s Orchard project. The station for the processing of horticultural production and maintenance of agricultural equipment is almost finished and the pupils already benefit from a didactic plot of land of three hectares of modern orchards.
„Through these investments, we train horticulturists prepared to turn to good account the agricultural potential of Moldova. The construction of the station for processing the horticultural production and maintenance of the agricultural equipment at the Agricultural Technical College from Svetlii is at the final stage,’’ the Agriculture Ministry says.
A didactic and demonstrative plot of land with an area of 3 hectares has been earlier planted at the Agricultural Technical College from Svetlii, with the support of the project, Moldova’s Orchard. During practical classes, pupils and teachers planted apricot trees, sweet cherry trees, cherry trees and apple trees of late varieties.
Moldova’s Orchard is a crediting line provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) to Moldova’s government, which, for its part, provides this loan to commercial banks participants. The loans are meant for investments in the horticultural sector. The credit line became operational in 2026.
