Delegation of Romanian Senate's committee on foreign affairs visits Moldova

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament hosts a visit by the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Policy of Romania’s Senate, led by its president, senator Titus Corlatean. The Romanian officials had meetings with parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the members of the commission for foreign policy and European integration. The discussions were focused on the domestic agenda and the advancement of Moldova’s European integration way, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The parliament speaker expressed appreciation for the constant support provided by Romania in the efforts of Moldova’s integration into the European Union. In the context, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu referred to projects recently implemented with Romania’s support. It is about the signing of the contract on the designing and construction of a bridge across the Prut river, Ungheni-Ungheni, which will near Moldova to the network of highways of the European Union, the providing of 20 school buses and of a consignment of almost 100,000 books, which will reach the libraries from all over Moldova. ‘’Romania has been and continues to be with Moldova and we thank you, on this occasion, for the constant support of our agenda, especially now, in the context of the accession process and of the referendum due this autumn,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The speaker also referred to the cooperation on the parliamentary dimension, including between the parliamentary commissions. ‘’We have a very good cooperation between the parliament of Moldova, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, the proof being the today’s visit. We want to take over as much as possible from Romania’s experience in the process of accession to the European Union and your expertise in the approximation of the legislation to the EU standards will help us quicker advance in the process of negotiations,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.
In the context, the president of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate, Titus Corlatean, reiterated that Romania would continue to support the European integration way of Moldova, to contribute to the enhancement of the country’s resilience, as well as to the enhancement of the level of knowledge and understanding by the citizens of the European integration process.
The visit’s agenda included also discussions with the members of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration. The officials touched upon the progress made by Moldova on the European integration way, which regards a string of political, economic and social transformations needed for the accession to the European Union.
Subsequently, the head of the commission for foreign policy and European integration, Ina Coseru, along with the president of the Romania’s Senate’s Foreign Policy Committee, Tutus Corlatean, held a joint news conference. ‘’We are together with our friends from Romania, in order to speak about the every support from which Moldova benefited on the European integration way and to discuss the projects underway and which are backed by Romania,’’ Ina Coseru said.
The delegation of the Committee on Foreign Policy of Romania’s Senate is presently paying a visit to Chisinau, at an invitation by the head of the Moldovan parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, Ina Coseru.
