Moldovan president urged diaspora citizens to cast vote

Chisinau, Oct 16 /MOLDPRES/- Head of state Maia Sandu has urged diaspora citizens to cast their vote. The official said "Moldovans are like a family scattered all over the world, which gathers together at important moments."
The official also referred to the importance of participating in the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum on October 20. "Moldovans are like a family scattered all over the world, but they come together at important moments. October 20 is an important moment for our whole family. Runoff will not be for the referendum. A day to vote so we don't have to wait 30 years. With Moldova in our hearts, let's go to the polls!" said Maia Sandu.
A total of 228 polling stations will be open in 37 countries for the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum on October 20. More than 850,000 ballot papers have been printed.
Most polling stations - 60 - will be open in Italy and another 17 in England. Romania will have 16 polling stations.
Moldovans in the US will be able to vote at 17 polling stations. For those in Canada, seven polling stations will be open. German citizens will be able to cast their vote in 26 polling stations. For those in France, 18 polling stations will be open.
Over 1,800 Moldovans are also expected to vote by post. The most registered citizens are from the United States - 1,086, followed by Canada - 580 and Norway - 131.
Presidential elections will be held on October 20. A republican constitutional referendum will be held on the same day. Citizens will answer the question "Do you agree with amending the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?".
