Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has urged the citizens to go to vote on 20 October and to ask for two ballot papers - for the election of the president and for the referendum. The official stressed that ‘’the country’s fate must be decided by the Moldovans.’’

In a video clip, the Moldovan president said that ‘’we are at a decisive moment, in which we have the duty to defend our democracy and to decide the fate of Moldova and of our children, as there will be no runoff for the referendum.’’

„This is a decisive moment; either we remain a weak and lonely state, or Moldova becomes strong, protected and with many friends. The groups of thieves want to block our future through lie and dirty money. Millions of euros for purchasing of votes, thousands of lies daily; yet, the Moldovans are wise and do not accept the others to tell them how to live. We do not sell our future; we have the duty to win, the people’s will should win, not the dirty money. Vote for Moldova to be victorious. Each effort, each vote can turn the balance. If you care about the future of Moldova for the next decades, go to vote; take the two ballot papers and vote for Moldova. The country’s fate is in your hands,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The presidential elections will be held on the next Sunday, 20 October 2024. On the same day, the republican constitutional referendum will take place. The citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
