Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement, and thanked all those who participated in the October 20 elections. The official urged voters to mobilize and participate in the runoff election on 3 November, "to vote freely and conscientiously", "because they cannot cheat as much as we can vote".
"I want to start by thanking everyone who participated in the vote, absolutely everyone. Thank you to everyone at home and in the diaspora who voted in the October 20 elections. I have noticed that despite all these attempts to fraud the vote, make propaganda, stir up trouble among the people, the citizens said a firm YES to the referendum and said a firm YES for us to build the country according to the European model. I congratulate everyone with this decision of the citizens", said Recean.
The Prime Minister said that "now the authorities must learn a lesson". "We have to work even harder with those who voted NO, for whatever reason. We have to go and explain to them further what it means to build our prosperous lives here at home and why we should not be exposed to this risk of fraud, electoral fraud," the official said.
Recean added that the relevant bodies will present the extent of electoral fraud and voiced hope that "all candidates who are effectively for democracy, condemn this effort of electoral fraud."
The official also had a message in the context of the organization of the runoff election on 3 November. "For the next round, on 3 November, our option is for everyone to go out to vote, to mobilize, to vote freely, consciously, because they cannot cheat, as much as we can vote," he said.
