Moldovan president conveys massage to citizens after elections

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova moves forwards with forehead up through the seen and especially unseen work of tens of maybe hundreds of thousands of people. I call on everybody, especially the politicians, to make use of their voice to encourage the respect for each citizen, goodwill and good understanding. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect, after she had won in the runoff presidential elections on 3 November.
„Dear Moldovans! In the last months, but especially on 3 November, together we have built a solid national relation based on the fact that all of us bear the love for Moldova in souls. We will be strong only if we keep our nation together – stay united, with foreheads up and with confidence in one another. The country’s unity and the good understanding between all those who live on this land represent our greatest duty,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The official noted that the massive presence of citizens at the voting proved the love for Moldova. ‘’ Moldova moves forward with forehead up through the seen and especially unseen work of tens of maybe hundreds of thousands of people. I have heard the voices of everybody and the things which you want to be corrected. Your firmness and example of love for the country proved through the presence at the voting and through the strong voice, are gestures which makes me commit without delay,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state called to unity. ‘’We will lead the country forward, relying on what unites us – courage, diligence and kindness of the Moldovans. I call on everybody and especially the politicians, to make use of their voice, in order to encourage the respect for each citizen, the goodwill and good understanding. Everybody, with good and bad things, with the differences between us, are the same people – both Chisinau and Ocnita, Nisporeni and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the Diaspora, both the young and elderly people, those who voted, as well as those who did not get to vote. We should fill our souls with fraternity, solidarity and kindness. We should edify on these values conveyed from generation to generation and to peacefully build a stronger Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu also said.
The runoff presidential elections were held in Moldova on 3 November. Following the processing of 100 per cent of the reports, data shows that about 930,000 electors voted for Maia Sandu or 55.33 per cent. At the same time, Alexandr Stoianoglo accumulated about 750,000 votes, which is 44.67 per cent. The Electoral Code sees that the candidate who got the largest number of votes is declared elected.
Following the ballot, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has at its disposal five days to compile an official report on the tabulation of the results. Subsequently, CEC will submit this report to the Constitutional Court, along with the report on the results of the presidential ballot.
The head of state is elected for a four-year mandate. This is the second mandate won by Maia Sandu.
