Ambassador Victor Moraru re-elected for new term as inspector in UN Joint Inspection Unit

Chisinau, Nov. 14 /MOLDPRES/- Ambassador Victor Moraru has been re-elected for a new term as inspector in the United Nations Joint Inspection Unit (JIU).
According to the Foreign Ministry, the re-election of Victor Moraru to the JIU is a proof of international appreciation and recognition of the experience and expertise of the candidate promoted by the Republic of Moldova.
"Thus, our country remains firmly committed to the process of improving the managerial-administrative and operational performance of the UN system and its specialized agencies," reads the statement issued by the MAE.
Three countries - Moldova, Bulgaria and Slovakia - took part in the competition for the vacant seat assigned to the Eastern European Group in the JIU. Victor Moraru received 107 votes of support from the 185 countries participating in the elections.
JIU is composed of 11 inspectors, appointed by the General Assembly including on the principle of equitable geographical distribution.
