Today - last day of campaigning for Sunday's new local elections

Chisinau, Nov 15 /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission warns that today is the last day for electoral agitation for the new local elections, which will be held this Sunday, November 17, in seven localities.

According to the Electoral Code, electoral campaigning is strictly forbidden on election day and the day preceding it. It is also not allowed during this period for election candidates to show up at TV or radio programs. Local public administration and advertising broadcasters are also obliged to remove election advertising materials. 

According to the Contraventions Code, the continuation of election propaganda by the media, electoral contestants and citizens is an administrative contravention and is punishable by a fine of 40 to 60 conventional units (2,000 to 3,000 lei) for private people and 100 to 150 conventional units (5,000 to 7,500 lei) for a legal entity.

This Sunday, new local elections will be held to elect mayors in seven localities: the city of Causeni, Iliciovca commune, Florești district, Boșcana commune, Criuleni district, Arionesti village, Dondușeni district, Antonești commune, Cantemir district, Clocușna village, Ocnita district and Popeștii de Jos village, Drochia district.
