Residents from seven Moldovan settlements to elect mayors on 17 November

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The residents of the Causeni city, Iliciovca commune, northern Floresti district, Boscana commune, central Criuleni district, Arionesti village, northern Donduseni district, Antonesti commune, southern Cantemir district, Clocusna village, northern Ocnita district and of the Popestii de Jos village, northern Drochia district, will elect their mayors on 17 November. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved and established some peculiarities of the organization and holding of the new local elections.
According to CEC, the voting booths will be placed, so that the exterior side, where the CEC’s logo is placed, should be directed under an angle of 45 degrees against the wall left free of the precincts of the polling station, so that their open sides should be partially in the field of vision of all members of the electoral bureau of the polling station and the subjects authorized to attend the electoral operations.
The voters who reached the age of 18 years after the date of 17 August 2024 and got the identity card for the first time ever can exercise their right to vote. They will be registered in the additional electoral list, if they show a document. Also, the elector’s first-generation passport or identity card without the supplementary sheet will be allowed to vote, if the SIAS Elections electronic system confirms that he/she belongs to the concerned polling station.
As for the electors who vote based on passport, the series and number of the passport will be put down in the section Note on the electoral list.
The CEC members specify that 38 candidates were registered for the new local elections, due on next Sunday. Twenty eight of them were nominated by political parties and another 10 ones run as independents. Over 25,000 electors are expected to vote.
Those 15 polling stations will be opened during 7:00-21:00. CEC printed 25,242 ballot papers for these elections, of which 20,195 are in the Romanian language and 5,047 – in Russian. The ballot will be monitored by 25 national observers accredited by CEC.
