Zhejiang Province in China interested in developing more partnerships with Moldova in agri-food sector

Chisinau, Nov. 19 /MOLDPRES/- A delegation from Zhejiang province, China, yesterday visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to strengthen bilateral relations between Moldova and the province, focusing on the development of economic and trade partnerships in the agri-food sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea emphasized the importance of bilateral economic cooperation. The sides highlighted the potential of Moldovan exports to the Chinese market, especially wines and fruits. At the same time, the Chinese side expressed interest in deepening cooperation in the agricultural education and technology transfer.

"The Republic of Moldova offers outstanding agri-food products recognized for their quality. At the moment we are under reforming the agricultural sector in order to become more competitive on a regional level and to meet the requirements of the international market," said Bolea.

Zhejiang province, one of the most developed economic regions of China, with 66 million inhabitants, could be a strategic partner for Moldova. In this regard, the meeting focused on the increase in bilateral trade over the past year, underlining the potential for expanding economic relations.

"Our exports, especially Moldovan wines, have enormous potential on the Chinese market. We are delighted by your interest in our products," he said.

The visit ended with a commitment to further develop trade relations and to cooperate in areas of common interest, in the respect of traditional friendship and mutually beneficial partnership.
