1,000 days since start of war in Ukraine

Chisinau, Nov. 19 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu has sent a message on 1,000 days since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The official said "Ukraine fights tirelessly to defend the land and freedom with incredible courage."
"This struggle is about restoring faith in a world where sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by all. Moldova stands with you - now and always," Maia Sandu said.
According to the presidential press service, these thousand days mean bombs falling mercilessly on Ukrainians' homes, children deported, families separated, hospitals, schools and kindergartens destroyed, towns and villages wiped off the map, thousands of lives lost. "But Ukrainians resist because they love their country. Because they want to preserve it for future generations. Ukrainians are defending not only their own land, they are also defending our peace, they are defending the peace of our continent," the head of state said.
Maia Sandu also emphasized that Moldovan citizens know the value of peace and that is why they were able to show unity and solidarity. "We opened the doors of our homes and our hearts to thousands of Ukrainian refugees, offering them a safe place and the support they needed. Moldova stands by our Ukrainian neighbors and friends. We will continue to support the Ukrainian people - because together we believe in a future of peace and freedom," said the President.
