Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - The drivers from Moldova and Romania will benefit from a quicker procedure of conversion of the driver’s licences and the registration certificates. This will be possible due to the establishment of a new mechanism, which will simplify the exchange of information.

The cabinet today approved the starting of negotiations on a draft Agreement to this effect between the governments of Moldova and Romania.

At the cabinet meeting, Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin said that the Agreement’s goal was to ensure the exchange of expertise and good practices between the two countries in the field of conversion of the driver’s licences and vehicles’ registration.

„At the same time, the Agreement establishes an efficient mechanism for the exchange of information on confirming the validity and authenticity of the driver’s licences. Thus, the citizens of Moldova and Romania will get the right to exchange the driver’s licence. At the same time, the exchange of information will be sped up and a better observance of the personal data will be ensured,’’ the minister noted.

Daniella Misail-Nichitin also said that the Agreement would allow Moldova’s citizens to move in Romania for a longer period. The document is meant to complete and develop the good cooperation between Moldova and Romania, the interior minister added.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that this was a draft expected by the Moldovans who live in Romania for a very long period of time.

Through this mechanism, the citizens of Moldova and Romania will benefit from high quality services according to the European standards.
