Education block opened at Mihai Eminescu Lyceum from Comrat city, with Romania's financial support

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 600 pupils of the Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum from the Comrat municipality will benefit from modern conditions for education. This will be possible, after a new education block was opened at the institution. It was built with the financial support of the governments of Moldova and Romania, which allocated a total sum of 23.6 million lei.
The launch event took place in a solemn framework, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi and Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister Luminita Odobescu, the state secretary of the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), Valentina Olaru, and the Comrat city mayor, Serghei Anastasov.
Romanian money used also in UTA Gagauzia for construction of schools
The new education block was inaugurated in the presence of Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Luminita Odobescu. ’’We inaugurated a new building of the Mihai Eminescu Theoretical lyceum in Comrat today. This is the only school with full teaching in the Romanian language from UTA Gagauzia. The construction was made with financing from the government of Romania and the government of Moldova,’’ Luminita Odobescu said.
The Romanian diplomacy head noted that ‘’the country invests in people, in education, in infrastructure, in highways, roads, in education institutions and cultural institutions. ‘’All these actions have the goal to back Moldova’s citizens improve their living conditions. It is about concrete projects, in the citizens’ interest, which will continue on the next period as well,’’ the official also said.
The Embassy of Romania in Moldova informed that the project implemented in Comrat was one more example of support received directly from Romania for the benefit of citizens, of the new generation, for a better future and more opportunities. The Romanian money is used also in UTA Gagauzia for the construction of schools, the Embassy said.
Investments of 23.6 million lei in Comrat
According to MEC, during 2020-2023, about 8.6 million lei was allocated from Moldova’s state budget for the construction of the new block. Additionally, the government of Romania provided a grant of 15 million lei through the programme on technical and financial assistance meant for the pre-school institutions from Moldova.
