Chisinau, Nov 22 /MOLDPRES/- Adrian Dupu, State Secretary of the Romanian Government's Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM), voted in the Romanian presidential elections. Upon leaving the polling station, the official said that he voted with the Republic of Moldova in mind because he wants a president who loves Moldova as much as loves Romania. The official stressed that it is very important to have a president in Bucharest who also fights for the interests of the Republic of Moldova and urged all Romanians to go out and vote, no matter where they are.

Dupu was among the first citizens to cast ballots in the elections, as he was present at the polling station opened at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova shortly before 12 noon, when the voting process for the Romanian presidential elections started.

As he left the polling station, Dupu said he voted because "he wants Romania to be represented at the international level by a man with verticality, a man recognized for his merits".

The official urged all citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have Romanian citizenship and all citizens from abroad to go out to vote, "because it is very important that in Romania we have a president who has an extraordinary cooperation with the leadership of the Republic of Moldova". "It is very important that in Bucharest we have a president who fights for the interests of the Republic of Moldova at European and international level, who fights for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and it is very important that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova realize that in Romania we also have the danger of extremism and through our vote to stop any extremist candidate who could reach the second round. I urge everyone to vote with Romania and the Republic of Moldova in mind", he said.

Dupu said that Moldova and Romania currently have an extraordinary relationship. "I would very much like this relationship to continue after the elections, but it very much depends on who will lead Romania," he said.

The official voiced hope that the turnout in the Romanian presidential elections will be higher than in the European parliamentary elections. "There are three days of voting, I would like to see a higher turnout than in the Europarliamentary elections. There are more polling stations, 59, there is at least one polling station in each district of the Republic of Moldova", he concluded.
