Chisinau, Nov 23 /MOLDPRES/- Justice reform consists of two components. One is laws, criminal code, criminal procedure code, institutional things, structures. The second component, perhaps the most important, is people. The authorities will work to motivate courageous people in the justice system to step forward and fight corruption effectively. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statements at a radio show.

"The justice reform has two components: it has the component of changing laws, adjusting the structure of the prosecutor's office, the courts, other law enforcement bodies. The second component which is perhaps even more important is called people and characters. Unfortunately so far we still have few courageous people, especially in the prosecutor's office and in the courts. We have a few. We know there are more than that and we are trying to make them step forward and fight corruption effectively," Recean said.

The official said that in the last few months, it could be seen that we have some brave prosecutors and judges who, together with the police, together with the National Anti-Corruption Center, have acted and have greatly diminished the effect of vote buying by the criminal group.

The Prime Minister referred to Romania's example and to the actions taken in the justice by Laura Codruța Kovesi during the period when she headed the National Anticorruption Directorate of Romania.

Earlier this week, Recean announced that the Government will come up with a list of security and financial guarantees for prosecutors and judges who will take on difficult and complex cases, in order to protect and support them in the fight against criminals.
