Chisinau, Nov. 25 /MOLDPRES/- Most Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who participated in Romania's presidential elections voted for Elena Lasconi. She picked up 56.65 percent or 45,590 votes cast by Moldovan voters.
Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă received 16,175 votes or 20.1%. In third place was Marcel Ciolacu, for whom 5,563 voters or 6.91% voted.
Mircea Geoană received 4,567 votes or 5.67%. He is followed by George Simion with 3,202 votes or 3.98 percent.
For the Romanian presidential elections, 59 polling stations were open in our country. Voting took place over three days and more than 80 thousand Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted.
The figure is a record and almost twice the number recorded in the first round of the presidential elections in Romania in 2019, when more than 43 thousand Romanians voted in Moldova.
The number of voters also exceeds the turnout in this summer's European Parliament elections, when around 57,000 Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova turned out to vote.
