Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - „Arta prinde viață” (The Art Gets Life) is the title of an exhibition inaugurated today at the National Art Museum of Moldova (MNAM), which marks the 85th anniversary of its foundation. The exhibition is made through augmented art, which contains ten paintings signed by the founders of the Bessarabian school of fine arts, accompanied by the ones of contemporary artists.

„This is a moment which invites us to ponder over the exceptional achievements of this institution and its impact on the cultural landscape of Moldova. There are 85 years of history and culture, of work, effort and self-denial; there are 85 years of development of a cultural identity of the country,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the event.

Also, the head of state awarded the Order of the Republic to the National Art Museum of Moldova. More employees of the Museum also were awarded the honorary title of Master in Arts.

The National Art Museum of Moldova is more than just a space dedicated to the conservation and promotion of the artistic heritage – it is a place of attraction, in which the tradition and the present times meet. With exceptional exhibitions signed by native and international artists, the museum represents an important cultural benchmark on the European and world stage, according to Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan.

The event is part of the Museums of the Future initiative, backed by the Culture Ministry, Future Technologies Activity in Moldova Project (United States Agency for International Development (USAID)), Sweden, United Kingdom and the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova Project.

The National Art Museum of Moldova is a museum placed in the centre of Chisinau – the only institution of this profile in Moldova. It was founded by Alexandru Plamadeala and Auguste Baillayre in November 1939. Presently, the heritage of MNAM has about 40,000 works, which show the development of the fine arts in the 15th-21st centuries. European and oriental art exhibitions are permanently staged at the Museum.
