Over 664,000 citizens submit applications for compensation of energy costs; 28 November last day when compensations for November can be demanded

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 664,000 families so far have submitted applications for the compensation of the costs for energy for the 2024-2025 cold season. The date of 28 November is the last day when applications can be filled in for asking for compensations for November. The spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, unveiled information to this effect today.    

„There is only one day left for submitting applications to the website www.compensatii.gov.md and to benefit from compensations for November. The deadline expires on 28 November. For December already, the people willing to register in the programme will be able to do this according to the terms announced by the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS). During the cold season, the applications can be submitted at any time; yet, the compensations will not be provided retroactively in the previous months. The applications submitted after the date of 28 will benefit from compensations starting from the next month,’’ Daniel Voda noted.      

For the time being, nobody knows which will be the size of the compensations provided and how an eventual increase in the gas tariffs might influence the quantum of the assistance provided by the state.

„We will consider the decision on tariffs of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE); we will do these calculations and we will take a decision inside the government. Subsequently, we will inform all citizens how we are to help them, protect them and be with them in the next winter. We are in a pretty sensitive period. Any figure communicated must be proved, with clarifications inside. We are to see which the tariff increase is. When we make the budget for compensations, we model it based on data. We have the database for this year; we will see how many people asking for compensations from this year heat themselves based on gas; we will understand which is the situation concerning the revenues, the number of family members and we will simulate which would be the impact of tariff growths, after which we will understand which will be the cost and we will communicate it to the public opinion,’’ Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu.     

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov today said that, in the context of the request by Moldovagaz, decision-makers considered the volume of compensations provided to citizens. ‘’The subject of the tariffs deals with ANRE. The government’s role is to protect the consumers, through the mechanism of compensations. Certainly, decision-maker examine the increase in the volumes of compensations; I do not want to enter details, but you probably noticed that the subject of the budget for the next year was also a bit postponed, taking into account that the request on the increase in tariffs has come,’’ Victor Parlicov said.    

Prime Minister Dorin Recean gave assurances that the government would be with the citizens ‘’in any situation.’’
