Moldova hosts third edition of Forum for Chief Negotiators for accession to EU

Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - The third edition of the Forum for Chief Negotiators for accession to EU is held in Moldova in late November. The event is organized by the European Commission, through the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX), in cooperation with the Bureau for European Integration.
Through this event, the country becomes, for three days, the focus of the discussions about the European integration and the transformations made by the countries which presently negotiate the accession to the European Union.
„I am happy that we host in Chisinau present and former chief negotiators, as well as more coordinators of the process of negotiations from the candidate countries and from the EU member states, as well as experts from the European institutions. Along with colleagues from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Ukraine, we share experiences and good practices in the process of negotiations,’’ Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov said.
The participants in the Forum discuss practical elements and the lessons learned at the elaboration of roadmaps, of the programme on enforcement of the European legislation, as well as the positions of negotiations are prepared, especially on complex chapters, such as the one on agriculture or transports.
„On this common road, on which we move, we have much to learn from each other: how to adjust the national legislation to the EU one; how to modernize the institutions and the society, improving the living of each citizen and how to respond to challenges as efficiently as possible,’’ Cristina Gherasimov said.
The deputy PM for reintegration also said that the European integration process was different from one country to another, but the final goals stays the same: to contribute to the peace and prosperity for all citizens.
On 25 June 2024, Moldova started the negotiations on accession to the European Union. They were officially launched at an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg. Presently, the authorities coordinate the stage of bilateral screening.
