Chisinau, Nov. 29 /MOLDPRES/- The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) today approved higher tariffs for natural gas. Thus, citizens will pay 15.50 lei (without VAT) for a cubic meter of gas, up by 3.35 lei than now.
The new tariffs were approved after Moldovagaz submitted a few days ago to ANRE a request for a price adjustment, arguing the decision on the grounds of "significant price increases on the international market".
Moldovagaz had requested a price of 16.17 lei (excluding VAT), up by 33.1 percent than the current price, while ANRE approved a price of 15.50 lei, by 0.67 lei less than Moldovagaz had requested.
ANRE said that factors were found that conditioned the need to revise the prices, including the increase in the average annual price of natural gas procurement.
The new tariffs will enter into force when published in the Official Journal.
While ANRE was examining the request to adjust the tariffs, several citizens staged a protest in front of the institution against the price increase.
Citizens currently pay 12.15 lei (excluding VAT) for a cubic meter of gas.
The last gas price change was approved in early May, when tariffs dropped by 1.24 lei from 13.39 lei to 12.15 lei.
