Chisinau, Nov. 29 /MOLDPRES/- About 1,000 pupils in grades 5 and 6 from 40 schools in the Republic of Moldova will apply an innovative method of learning English using Langly application, which was presented today in Chisinau. The new tool, based on artificial intelligence, will be accessible free of charge to students and teachers.

The Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the pilot project for the use of Langly educational platform in English language lessons was signed today between the Ministry of Education and Research, Langly Oxford English and Future Technologies Project.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said at the event that the project launched today will contribute to increasing the attractiveness and quality of English language teaching in schools in our country. "The digital application will help students and teachers to ensure a more interactive teaching process. We will start with 40 educational institutions that will have the opportunity to pilot the use of this app in the teaching process. Knowing English is very important in the 21st century as it gives people the opportunity to connect with the world, to travel, to work, to interact with people from other countries, to increase their competitiveness both educationally and in terms of future job opportunities", Perciun said.

The Minister added that as the first results of the new project will be obtained, those responsible will decide whether to implement this tool on a larger scale.

The new application was developed by a Moldovan IT company. "It is a first for the Republic of Moldova when we open our educational system to innovations from Moldovan IT companies that develop and provide educational solutions," said Perciun.

Teachers in schools where the new app will be used will receive training. More than 200 teachers have signed up so far.
