Moldovan deputy PM says Moldova significantly advances on European integration way

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldova-European Union Association Committee has held a meeting in Brussels. Moldova is represented by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov. In the beginning of the meeting, the Chisinau official said that Moldova had significantly advanced on the way of European integration and stayed firm in its commitment of accession to EU.
„Moldova this year has significantly advanced on the European integration way and stays firm in its commitment to join EU and improve the citizens’ living,’’ Gherasimov also said.
Organized and presided over by the European External Action Service and the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, the event brought together representatives of more institutions from Moldova, which analyzed the situation in the sectors which they manage, in the context of the carrying out of the accession agenda. It is about the Interior Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Justice Ministry, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, as well as the Audiovisual Council, National Bank of Moldova, Service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering.
The meeting’s agenda includes subjects on Moldova’s progress made on the European integration path, the key reforms and the current challenges in the process of the country’s transformation; stage of preparation for the negotiations on accession and the conclusions of the European Commission’s Enlargement Report for 2024. The Association Committee will consider also Moldova’s cooperation with EU in the fields of economy, energy, health, education and agriculture.
„We will move, in continuation, with much determination, on our road to EU. We know that the transformations which we make to get closer to the EU standards will bring, first of all, benefits to our country and the people of Moldova,’’ Gherasimov also said.
The meeting of the Moldova-European Union Association Committee is held annually and has the goal to assess the level of implementation of the Association Agreement, as well as to make recommendations for the future Moldova’s cooperation with the European institutions. .
The bilateral screening on the chapter 2, Free movement of workers, and chapter 3, Right to set up enterprises and the freedom to provide services, will take place in Brussels during this week. The representatives of the Moldovan government will unveil the national normative and institutional framework, as well as the calendar of the transposition of the EU’s legislation in the field.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov pays a working visit to Brussels on 2-6 December. The Moldovan official will have meetings with new EU Commission for Enlargement Marta Kos and the director general of DG NEAR, Gert Jan Koopman. Also, Gherasimov will meet the ambassadors of Hungary, Cyprus, Italy, the Netherlands and Albania accredited at EU. The official will participate in a string of discussions EPC Talks Geopolitics and in the European Union-Western Balkans Summit.
