Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - An office of the European Parliament will be opened in Chisinau. The head of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Moldova, Siegfried Muresan, made statements to this effect at the end of the 15th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, held in Brussels today.
According to the quoted source, in a declaration adopted at the end of the meeting, the participants opted for the opening, as soon as possible, of an office of the European Parliament in Moldova.
„Through this office, we, the European Parliament, will be able to easier support the Moldovan authorities in the process of accession and of European integration. Besides, this is a very good instrument of institutional communication. We see the assault of Russia’s anti-European propaganda in all countries of the European Union and in the neighbourhood. The office of the European Parliament in Chisinau will be able to easier implement measures of communication and informing, through which we should explain the people the benefits which the European Union provides,’’ Muresan said.
The head of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Moldova said that the declaration of the Parliamentary Association Committee comprised more proposals, in order to strengthen the European support for Moldova, among which: permanent liberalization of the commerce with the European Union; speeding up of Moldova’s integration into EU and in the single market; as soon as possible adoption of the European Facility for Moldova, worth 1.8 billion euros – the biggest package of support in the country’s history.
„As rapporteur of the European Parliament on the legislation of the Facility for Moldova, we today conveyed to the colleagues that we have already made important progress in the legislative process and that we will adopt the facility as quickly as possible and in the best conditions for Moldova,’’ Muresan added.
