Intellectual property rights discussed in Brussels

Chisinau, Dec. 17 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's delegation is currently in Brussels to discuss Chapter 7, which deals with intellectual property rights. Thus, once aligned with European standards there will be better protection of creations and innovations.
The Moldovan delegation is led by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov. The talks are being held with European Commission experts.
"Once aligned with European standards on this chapter, our citizens will benefit from better protection of copyrights, patents, trademarks and other forms of intellectual property. This will lead to better protection of creations and innovations and will increase access to quality products and services for our citizens", said Gherasimov.
Two weeks ago, the bilateral screening on Chapter 2 Free movement of workers and Chapter 3 Right to set up businesses and freedom to provide services took place in Brussels. The government representatives presented the national regulatory and institutional framework, as well as the timetable for the transposition of EU legislation in the area.
On June 25, 2024, the Republic of Moldova started accession negotiations with the European Union. They were officially launched at an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg. The authorities are currently coordinating the bilateral screening phase.
