Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Energy Ministry today unveiled information on the reserving of the capacity of transport in the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline for January 2025, following the tenders held on 16 December 2024. The ministry noted that it was in touch with colleagues from the countries on the Trans-Balkan route and knew that the Gazprom giant had not made reserves of transport capacity for January 2025. International traders from the region have made capacity reserves.
Thus, according to data by the Energy Ministry, capacity reserves took place on the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline in the following interconnection points:
- A transport capacity of about 2.55 million cubic members/day was reserved at the border between Turkey and Bulgaria (Malkoclar / Strandzha 2). A capacity of 3.58 million cubic metres/day remained available.
- A capacity of transport of about 0.9 million cubic metres/day was reserved at the border between Bulgaria and Romania (Kardam / Negru Vodă I). A capacity of 8.77 million cubic metres/day remained available.
- No transport capacities were reserved at the border between Romania and Ukraine (Isaccea 1 / Orlovka). A capacity of 10.35 million cubic metres/day remained available.
- A capacity of transport of 4.45 million cubic metres/day was reserved at the border between Romania and Moldova (Ungheni/Ungheni). A capacity of 1.65 million cubic metres/day remained available.
The Energy Ministry said that Gazprom had not made capacity reserves of transport for next January. Till the end of December 2024, the deliveries of natural gas by Gazprom to Moldova’s Transnistrian region amount to 5.7 million cubic metres/day.
According to the authorities, the daily consumption of natural gas on the left Bank of Dniester in January 2025, including at the MGRES (Kuchurgan power station), without enforcing consumption optimization measures, is estimated at about 3.7 million cubic metres/day.
At the same time, the Energy Ministry also said that, in next January, the daily consumption on the left banks of Dniester, if MGRES works on coal, reduces to the minimum the activity of the industry, as well as if the station enforces measures of cutting the consumption, is estimated between 2.3 million and 2.7 million cubic metres/day.
The next tender for reserving the transport capacity for January 2025 will take place daily starting from 31 December 2024 and during all next January.
