One-off childbirth allowance to rise to 21,350 lei

Chisinau, Dec. 19 /MOLDPRES/- One-off childbirth allowance will rise to 21,350 lei, while pensions and other social benefits will be indexed from 1 April 2025 by 6.1 percent. MPs approved 2025 State Social Insurance Budget Law /BASS/ today.

According to the document, total revenues worth 46.51 billion lei are foreseen, with о increase of 8.7 percent compared to the revenues approved for 2024. The same amount of 46.51 billion lei is also foreseen in the expenditure chapter.

The state social insurance budget also includes increases in social benefits for families with children. The one-off childbirth allowance will rise to 21,350 lei. More than 72,000 children under two will receive a monthly allowance of 1,000 lei, regardless of whether the parents are insured or not. Parents who are insured will also benefit from the monthly allowance for raising a child up to the age of three, the amount of which will be determined according to the salary of the higher-income parent.

From 1 January 2025, the amount of the monthly state allowance for rehabilitated victims of political repression will be increased. The monthly allowance for war veterans will also increase to 1,610 lei.

According to the document, the BASS expenditures are distributed over 10 sub-programs, administered by the National Social Insurance House. The largest share of BASS expenditures goes to the old-age pension, amounting to 30.7 billion lei, 6.7% more than last year.
