Enhanced control of pollution in Moldova: new regulations for energy industry

Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ - Enhanced control of pollution. The MPs today adopted a draft law which proposes the adjusting of the normative acts to the provisions of the Law on industrial emissions.

The main amendments envisage the exclusion from the present normative framework of the authorization for the emission into the atmosphere of the pollutants from fixed sources of pollution and its replacement by the integrated environmental permit or environmental permit. Also, the amendments include the updating of the powers of the environment inspectors, through the assigning of the right to verify the observance of the permissive environmental acts, as well as to initiate the procedure of withdrawal and suspension of these acts.  

The Law on electric energy will also be completed with a norm provided for in the Law on industrial emissions, which obliges the producers, transporters and distributors of electric energy to get environmental permit.  

At the same time, the law on the payment for the pollution of the environment will be completed with a norm on the calculation of the tax for the emissions and discharge of pollutants coming from the authorized installations.
