About 115 million lei to be allocated from Moldova's government's intervention fund to liquidate consequences of 2024 year torrential rains

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) today instructed the allocation of about 115 million lei from the government’s intervention fund for the liquidation of the consequences of the torrential rains from June-September 2024, the government’s communication department has reported.     

Under the decision, financial means worth 114 million 758,000 lei will be earmarked for 54 settlements hit by the torrential rains and strong wind and hail in the last summer and autumn. It is about settlements from the districts of Rezina, Hancesti, Floresti, Telenesti, Ialoveni, Straseni, Cantemir and Leova.

About 160 km of deteriorated roads, 20 small bridges and drains affected are to be repaired, as well as roofs of education institutions are to be reestablished with these resources.

Also, 21 households from the Cania commune and Stoianovca village, southern Cantemir district, hit by the rains from 14 September 2024, from benefit from support. To this end, 282,000 lei will be allocated to the council of the Cania commune and 49.93 thousand lei – to the Stoianovca village council.   

Earlier, local public authorities have allocated another over 3.5 million lei from local reserve funds, in order to partially liquidate the consequences of the torrential rains.    

In the context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean warned the local public administrations to intervene in time where there are risks, in order to avoid the serious damages inflicted by the natural calamities.
