Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has launched a call to the citizens, thereby urging them to save the energy, in the context of the emergency situation in the energy sector. The head of state gave assurances that Moldova would overcome this winter successfully.
Maia Sandu said that the prices for energy represented a worry for many people; yet, the government does its utmost to provide the country with electricity and gas. Also, the authorities are willing to help the low-income people pay their invoices. ‘’But all of us can make the situation easier. Small changes in our daily habits can have a high impact – they help us save energy and cut the costs,’’ the Moldovan president noted.
The head of state gave several examples of behavior, how the energy can be saved:
- reducing the consumption of energy during the peak hours - in the morning during 7:00-11:00 and in the evening during 18:00-23:00;
- avoiding the simultaneous use of more electric equipment;
- turning off the light in the chambers where we do not stay;
- unplugging the apparatus which we do not use;
- decreasing by one degree the temperature of the aid conditioner.
The president expressed confidence that ‘’we will overcome this winter successfully, together.’’ ‘’Moldova has always proved that it is stronger when we are united,’’ the head of state stressed.
Starting from 16 December, Moldova entered emergency state for a period of 60 days. The declaring of the state of emergency was demanded by the government, given a possible ceasing in the deliveries of natural gas to the Transnistrian region by Gazprom, which might trigger a humanitarian crisis in the region.
Also, in this scenario, there are risks for the work and stability of Moldova’s energy sector.
