Chisinau, Dec 30 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean called today for the preparation of additional measures to support citizens and business environment in case ANRE approves new energy tariffs.
"Minister Buzu, as soon as the National Energy Regulatory Agency will decide on the new tariffs, let us immediately come up with calculations and additional measures to support citizens, so that we take care to mitigate the impact of the corresponding increase. Let's identify those companies that the government will support. I'm talking primarily about food companies, obviously. Companies whose competitiveness may be affected as a result of higher electricity tariffs. We will support them in two ways: the first is the partial compensation of the increase in these expenses for a limited period of 3 to 6 months, in parallel with subsidizing investments in energy efficiency, so that these measures will also produce sustainability", Recean said.
As of 16 December, a state of emergency has been set up for 60 days throughout the Republic of Moldova in connection with potential risks of energy shortages.
