Moldovan government approved increase in energy compensations

Chisinau, Dec. 30 /MOLDPRES/- Government approved at today's meeting the adjustment of the indicators for the calculation of energy compensations for December 2024 - March 2025. Thus, energy compensations in the form of monetary payments, especially for those who consume natural gas will increase, the government's communications department has reported.

The changes come to mitigate the impact generated by the increase in natural gas tariffs from 1 December 2024, by adjusting the calculation formulas for compensation.

Thus, the minimum amount of compensation increases from 300 lei to 500 lei for all types of energy. The maximum value will increase from 800 lei to 1000 lei for natural gas, while for heat, electricity and solid fuel the maximum value will remain at 800 lei.

"The average compensation will increase from 524 lei in November to 715 lei in December. These compensations will ensure a final tariff for citizens that is not higher than last year's," said Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labor and Social Protection.

The amendments also stipulate that the non-vulnerability test does not apply to households with at least one person with severe disability. The measure will provide additional support for the cold season to all disabled households.

Compensation for December 2024 - March 2025 will be distributed to beneficiaries in January - April 2025. 

For December 2024, the implementation of the project assumes a total cost of 500 million lei for about 670 thousand beneficiaries.

In November, more than 703 thousand households registered in the Information System compensatii.gov.md, and in December, more than 33 thousand new applications were registered.
