Roadmaps for opening of negotiations discussed at Moldova's parliament

Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/ - The draft roadmaps needed for starting the negotiations on the first group of chapters have been discussed on the platform of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration.
Those three drafts of roadmaps regard the rule of law state, public administration’s reform and work of the democratic institutions.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov, as well as representatives of the Centre for approximation of the legislation, of the Justice Ministry and Interior Ministry.
Thus, the roadmap concerning the Work of Democratic Institutions is elaborated in the context of the framework of negotiations for Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The document establishes a string of strategic priorities, as well as measures of reforms necessary. The goals and measures included in this document come from Moldova’s commitment to adjust its normative framework to the EU’s acquis, as well as from the needs of strengthening the institutional capacities. The document is made up of three topic-related blocs: electoral process, parliament’s work in a democratic society and the civil society’s role.
The topic-related bloc which concerns the parliament’s work contains three strategic objectives. It includes measures aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the legislative institution, enhancing the transparency and strengthening the integrity mechanisms in relation to the lawmakers.
The draft of the roadmap, Rule of Law State, establishes the results Moldova is set to achieve in the next four years, in order to consolidate the rule of law state. The general goal is to strengthen the independence of the judicial system, protect the fundamental rights and the area of freedom, security and justice, in line with the highest standards of the EU.
The draft of the roadmap on the Public Administration Reform has the main goal to improve the public services for the benefit of the citizens.
The draft roadmaps have been earlier consulted with representatives of the civil society and are to be considered at cabinet meeting.
