Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry informs about new legislative provisions on period of temporary stay of foreigners in Russia

Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/ - The legislative provisions establishing that the foreign citizens who enter Russia without visas can stay on the territory of this state for a maximal period of 90 days in one calendar year will enter into force as of 1 January 2025.  

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), the provisions are not enforced in more cases.

„It is about situations regulated by the Federal Law No 115-ФЗ from 25 July 2002, On the legal status of the foreign citizens in the Russian Federation; Instructions provided for in the international treaties to which Russia is party; Situations in which the period of stay is extended according to the legislation in force,’’ MAE noted.  

Thus, the amendments regard the foreign citizens who enter Russia in a free-visa regime, including the citizens of Moldova. At the same time, for the citizens who travel based on visa, the period of stay remains determined by the visa’s validity.    

In the context, the Embassy of Moldova in Russia recommends that Moldova’s citizens strictly observe the new regulations on the duration of stay in Russia, thus avoiding eventual sanctions.
